Zak here from Nomac Built. We're back on site at Project Devlyns in Birchs Bay, and we've had a big renovation transformation over the last couple of weeks. Last time we were here, this was all bare bones framing. Here's what the team and our trade partners have been up to.
Watch the video:
Our friends at Kaines Plastering have done a great job on the high vaulted ceiling. Around the room there are some arched doorways and square-set details, all the way through to the attic loft.
The joinery from our friends at Insite Solutions Joinery has definitely delivered. It's a high-end finish featuring stone benchtops and vignette fronts, accented with gold detailing framing the island. Getting the joinery locked in early is what makes a finish like this possible, and we cover why in our guide to joinery planning before rough-in.
Our friends at BTS Tiling have done a great job on the floor tiling, as well as the feature wall and the laundry and WC. Our client Joe hand selected the grey coppery tones, which accent the joinery beautifully throughout the place.
We've also got Rock Electrical on site doing a beautiful job with the fit-off, including a massive pendant light over the island bench. But it's not only the electrical you can see, it's what you can't see. Under the whole floor system they've installed underfloor tile heating, which gives comfort to this space all year round.
Our site foreman Nick has also made a couple of design calls on the fly this week. An old doorway has been turned into an arched niche rather than enclosed, and next week the team will build hardwood balusters that wrap the stairs and continue up to form the handrail. BTS Tiling is also underway on the splashbacks and skirt tiles in the laundry and WC, with Kaines Plastering booked in next week to finish off.
Over the next couple of weeks, we're going to finish off all the fit-out work, get the kitchen operational and make this space liveable so our client can host their guests. There are some great highlights on this project that we're eager to share with you all. Stay tuned for the grand reveal.
