Sometimes the biggest challenge in a renovation isn't what you can see - it's what you uncover once demolition begins.
This modest bathroom initially appeared to be a straightforward renovation; however, once the existing finishes were removed, it became clear the room had been constructed over what was originally an external concrete pathway that had been enclosed many years ago. The existing floor structure was no longer suitable for a modern bathroom, so the project quickly evolved into a complete structural rebuild.
The Nomac Built team stripped the bathroom back to its bare bones before constructing a brand-new, fully compliant timber-framed floor system. To ensure the space was built to last, the floor was sheeted using James Hardie Secura Scyon 20mm structural flooring, providing an exceptionally robust foundation ready for waterproofing and tiling.
Rather than redesigning the layout, this renovation focused on refining an already functional space. By carefully selecting fixtures and introducing clever storage solutions, we were able to significantly improve the bathroom's practicality without compromising its footprint. A recessed Timberline 900mm Tennessee shaving cabinet provides generous hidden storage, while a tiled shower niche keeps everyday essentials neatly tucked away without intruding into the shower space.
The centrepiece of the renovation is the beautiful Timberline 1200mm Nevada Plus wall-hung vanity, finished in Prime Oak and paired with a premium Stadium SilkSurface benchtop. Combined with Nero Bianca chrome tapware, contemporary fittings and full-height tiling, the finished bathroom feels bright, spacious and timeless.
While the transformation is immediately noticeable, the greatest improvement is hidden beneath the tiles. By rebuilding the bathroom from the ground up and addressing the underlying structural deficiencies, this project delivers peace of mind alongside a modern finish, ensuring the space will continue to perform for many years to come.
