Behind the scenes of the Gillon bathroom renovation in Hobart. When we pulled up the old floor we found the bathroom had been built over an enclosed external concrete pathway, which meant the whole floor needed rebuilding before anything else could happen. We framed a new timber floor and laid James Hardie Secura Scyon 20mm structural flooring to give the room a solid base for decades to come.

From there it was full-height tiling, a Timberline 1200mm Nevada Plus wall-hung vanity in Prime Oak with a Stadium SilkSurface benchtop, Nero Bianca chrome tapware, a recessed Timberline shaving cabinet and a tiled shower niche. Around 5.7 square metres, finished in 2026.

This one is a good example of why we quote and communicate the way we do. Older Hobart homes hide things, and when something like this turns up you want a builder who will show you what they have found and talk you through the options rather than tile straight over it.
